The leonin Ajani Goldmane wields magic that conjures the soul’s light of others—but not his own. He is a master auramancer, enhancing the life-force of allies as he defends them with absolute loyalty. Ajani is the only Planeswalker to have faced Nicol Bolas in single combat and lived.

Allies:
Elspeth Tirel. When Elspeth left her adoptive home of Bant after it was despoiled by Grixis, Ajani tracked her to the plane of Dominaria, returning her armor and sword and entreating her to return. Elspeth declined but the two remained friends.
Enemies:
Nicol Bolas. When Ajani’s brother Jazal was murdered, Ajani followed the path back to the dragon mastermind Nicol Bolas. The two faced off at the Maelstrom on Alara, where Ajani conjured Nicol Bolas’s double, driving the dragon to a stalemate.
Associations:
Sarkhan Vol. On discovery of Jazal’s lifeless body, Ajani’s Planeswalker spark ignited, sending him to nearby Jund. There he met dragon-worshipping Planeswalker Sarkhan Vol, who encouraged him to channel his rage to planeswalk home.

Chandra values freedom above all; any controlling force is a threat to her fiery independence. When she learns that one of her own kind, the Planeswalker Ramaz, has subtly manipulated her actions, she embarks on a quest for revenge, and for assurance that her choices are her own.

Allies:
Gideon Jura, Jace Beleren. When Chandra’s adoptive home plane was threatened, Gideon became Chandra’s ally, helping her liberate her people. Jace Beleren was first a rival, and became an ally only after he and Chandra teamed up on Zendikar to survive an attack by Sarkhan Vol.
Enemies:
Sarkhan Vol, Ramaz. Sarkhan Vol, an agent of Nicol Bolas, attacked Chandra when she arrived on Zendikar. Only with Jace Beleren’s aid did she prevail. She was led into the trap by Ramaz, who subtly guided her toward the scroll that contained a hidden map to Zendikar. Now Chandra hunts down Ramaz for vengeance—as well as to learn his motivation.

Dack Fayden is an accomplished thief, but not one who’s interested in wealth for its own sake. He is a gifted psychometrist, meaning that he can glean knowledge from objects, whether it’s knowledge of the object’s magic, it’s owners, or even the owners’ memories. His methods and motivations put him in danger on a regular basis, and he has developed a talent for diversion and escape.

Overview:
Elspeth’s home plane was blighted by one of the darkest forces of the Multiverse: Phyrexia. Since her spark flared at an unusually young age, Elspeth has sought a home free of darkness and oppression. Because of her considerable power and heroism, however, she finds herself confronting evil time and again.

Allies:
Ajani Goldmane, Koth of the Hammer. It was the leonin Planeswalker Ajani Goldmane who first warned Elspeth of the darkness coming to her adoptive home of Bant. Later, when Elspeth left Bant, Ajani sought her out, delivering her sword and armor and entreating her to return. But Elspeth was called to another plane by the Mirrodin native Koth, whose world was under siege. Elspeth and Koth fought to save Mirrodin, but in the end it was lost to the same force that plagued her own home plane: Phyrexia.
Enemies:
Tezzeret. While working with ally Koth of the Hammer to save the plane of Mirrodin from Phyrexia, Elspeth encountered the Planeswalker Tezzeret, an artificer who was working with the Phyrexians. Elspeth remains unaware that Tezzeret is a pawn of the dragon Nicol Bolas.

Liliana Vess. While hunting on Shandalar, Garruk fought necromancer Liliana Vess. She used a relic called the Chain Veil to defeat him, tainting him with its magic. Now he hunts her across the Multiverse even as he tries to resist the Veil’s curse.
Associations:
Jace Beleren. Although Garruk despises cities, he traveled to the city plane of Ravnica to interrogate Jace about Liliana’s location, but to no avail. Garruk is one of many Planeswalkers familiar with Ravnica.

Chandra Nalaar. First rivals, then reluctant allies, Jace and Chandra teamed up against the Planeswalker Sarkhan Vol on the plane of Zendikar. Later, Jace convinced Chandra that it was no coincidence that they crossed paths there—someone arranged it.
Enemies:
Sarkhan Vol, Tezzeret, Ral Zarek. Jace has unwittingly faced two pawns of the ancient dragon Planeswalker Nicol Bolas: Sarkhan and Tezzeret. He also tangled with the storm-mage Ral Zarek, who is associated with Ravnica’s Izzet League.
Associations:
Liliana Vess, Garruk Wildspeaker. Jace and Liliana were formerly lovers. Garruk knew this and sought out Jace to find her. And while working for Tezzeret’s criminal cabal, Jace met the dragon Planeswalker Nicol Bolas, with whom he had a telepathic dialogue.

Jace Beleren and Nicol Bolas. While working for a cabal on Ravnica, Liliana made a deal with the dragon Nicol Bolas and was involved with Jace Beleren, but in the end she abandoned both for her own interests.

Overview:
Nissa once believed in the primacy of the elvish race, in whatever planes it arose across the Multiverse. But when her own home plane was ravaged by interplanar beings called the Eldrazi, partially because of her own error of judgement, she began to question her own thinking. She still serves as a powerful and capable leader of elves, however.

Associations:
Sorin Markov. The inscrutable, interplanar Eldrazi were imprisoned on Zendikar for millennia. When their bonds were loosened, one of their original captors, the vampire Planeswalker Sorin Markov, arrived to reinforce the magical prison. At the last moment, however, Nissa foiled Sorin’s efforts, believing the Eldrazi would leave Zendikar and enable the plane to return to its natural state. Unable to reimprison the released beings, Sorin left, and the Eldrazi titans devoured huge swaths of the plane, wracking Nissa with unimaginable guilt.
